Abstract
The concept of the Global South has been around for decades, but studies on its concept and characteristics from a geopolitical perspective have been limited, as it has been extensively addressed in political literature. This research addresses this concept from a geographical perspective and touches on the most important indicators of vulnerability for these countries from several axes, including food security, which exposes the country to vulnerability in the face of food-exporting countries. It also examines the problem of population growth, which is disproportionate to the investment of resources in these countries, and consequently, external debt, which has a significant negative impact on the sovereignty and strength of the state. This interaction with the previous indicators creates a trap for the countries of the Global South, leaving them in a state of dependency and economic and political independency. The research addresses steps to overcome these problems, address the poor situation in the countries of the Global South, build their strength, and reduce the negative geopolitical effects of these indicators. Among these solutions or strategies are encouraging trade among the countries of the Global South, developing development policies, and subsequently reforming the global economic system.
