Abstract
It's no secret that morphological forms are semantic structures. Transforming a word into different structures for various meanings is the practical meaning of morphology. Our ancient scholars investigated the semantic connotations specific to morphological forms and identified the difference between linguistic meaning and morphological meaning—that is, the meaning of the form or structure. They also highlighted the critical role morphological forms play in identifying the boundaries between words in context. (2) And it is what Ibn Jinni (392 AH) called artificial meaning. So he said in the chapter on verbal, artificial and semantic meaning: Know that each one of these signs is valid, taken into account and effective, except that they are in three levels of strength and weakness, the strongest of which is verbal meaning, followed by artificial meaning and then semantic.
