Abstract
This research examined the geographical aspects of food security in Muthanna Governorate in 2011, considering it as a major problem that has attracted the attention of researchers, scholars, and governments alike. The study focused on the geographical potential of the area, both natural and human resources, and compared it with the food needs of the governorate. It also highlighted the obstacles hindering agricultural production, aiming to increase the area of arable land and thus increase the per capita availability of food, which would help bridge the gap between the governorate's local grain production and its imports, whether from neighboring governorates or from abroad. Finally, the study shed light on the future outlook for food security in the governorate.
