Abstract
This research aims to illustrate the patterns of population distribution in Muthanna Governorate in the years 1997 and 2014, and to identify the factors that led to variations in this distribution. The research hypothesized that there were variations in the population distribution within the governorate, both across districts and at the level of smaller administrative units, and that these variations occurred between the two years. It also hypothesized that certain factors contributed to these variations. The research methodology employed a descriptive and analytical approach, utilizing data provided by the Iraqi Ministry of Planning. The study concluded that the population distribution in the governorate varied both spatially and temporally, across districts and smaller administrative units, and that natural factors played a dominant role in influencing population distribution within the governorate.
