Abstract
The age structure is one of the demographic issues that are of particular importance in multiple studies and at all economic, social and political levels. By studying the age structure, it is possible to know the percentage of the dependent labor force category for the dependent categories represented by the young and the elderly, in addition to that, it shows the school-age groups and groups which needs special health care, and the age structure can give a clear picture of the young age groups capable of bearing arms and defending the homeland and the groups that can exercise their right in the political process and consumer requirements of goods and services and others.The subject of the research dealt with an objective study of the spatial variation in terms of the age structure of the population of Al-Qadisiyah Governorate for the period (1987-2012). The research was divided into three sections, the first section dealt with the concept of age structure and its importance from the demographic and social point of view.
