Abstract
Studies in population geography are among the most important geographical studies as they are the basis on which all other studies emerge and proceed from, as it affects and is affected by all areas of social, economic and political life. When studying the geographical components of the region, the human side has great luck in this type of studies, especially with regard to the age and gender composition of the population, since each age group or quality has rights and duties that the state must determine by knowing the true weight of that group.The qualitative structure occupies a special importance in population studies, given that both males and females have different requirements from each other, whether they are in the economic aspect in terms of job opportunities and their nature, or in the social aspect in terms of the nature of the health and Educational needs that must be provided, or even in the political aspect and the entry of women and men into the political process and the rate of their participation. From here, the study was launched in order to analyze the qualitative structure of the population in Al-Muthanna Governorate, how the gender ratio developed during the study period and what were the reasons behind it.
