إخوان الصفاء واهتماماتهم الجغرافية: دراسة في الفكر الجغرافي
Abstract
This study examines one of the most distinguished intellectual groups in the history of Arabic and Islamic thought, namely the Brotherhood of Purity (Ikhwan al-Safa), whose works flourished in the 4th century AH. The study focuses on their famous collection of treatises, known as the "Letters of the Brotherhood of Purity," exploring their origins, upbringing, and intellectual activities. The geographical information contained in their writings, particularly regarding natural phenomena, was analyzed and divided into four main areas: climatology (including climatic data), geomorphology (landforms), hydrology (water resources), and astronomy. This analysis compares the information presented in their works with modern scientific data.
