Abstract
Urban studies, in its broadest sense, has become a subject of interest for researchers from various disciplines such as geography, sociology, economics, engineering, and planning. This is due to the comprehensive nature of the topics these disciplines address, which now form the core of contemporary urban studies. Legislation, in most countries of the world, serves as the primary mechanism for effecting social, economic, and urban changes. It is the tool by which governments and parliaments can respond to the evolving needs of their societies. Legislation regulates and governs the relationships between individuals and groups, between rulers and the ruled, and also regulates the relationship between individuals and their environment, encompassing the various spatial relationships among them.
