Abstract

The return to classical poetry appears to be evidence of Arab taste's adherence to its aesthetic heritage, shaped by a sound instinct influenced by the Arab environment and its individualistic tendencies. This means that the modern recipient of poetry still carries within him the harbingers of that beautiful poetic past, which he cherishes in his aesthetic consciousness. This does not mean a disparagement of the values of modern poetic formation (free verse, prose poetry, interactive digital poetry), but rather that the classical form of poetry represents the distinguishing feature of Arabic poetry, which has remained the standard for its distinction in the taste of its recipients to this moment. However, we cannot celebrate this change, because it is not a qualitative change, but rather a trend of internal transformation of the medium, while the values of poetic discourse persist. Accordingly, the poet has transformed from one rhetorical value to another, due to the strength of distinctive cultural systems that are the poet's refinement stemming from an existential necessity.
