Abstract
The current research aims to identify: 1- Counter-seduction among university students. 2- Differences in counter-seduction among university students according to the variables: gender, major, and academic year. The research was limited to Al-Qadisiyah University students, specializing in science and humanities, males and females, for the second and fourth grades for morning study only, for the academic year (2012) - (2013). To achieve the research objectives, the researcher constructed a counter-seduction scale based on the theory of cognitive dissonance of "Festinger". After verifying the psychometric properties of the scale, it became clear that it consists of (28) paragraphs distributed equally over the two domains of the scale. After that, the scale was applied to the basic research sample, which numbered (400) male and female students. After collecting the data and processing it statistically with the help of the Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS), the research reached the following results: University students have a tendency towards counter-seduction. 2- There are statistically significant differences in counter-seduction according to the gender variable (males, females) in favor of males among university students.
