نشأة التعليم النظامي في إمارات الساحل العماني 1953-1971
Abstract
The emergence of modern regular schools in the Emirates of the Omani coast in 1953 is nothing but the result of the development of the sequential educational process that prevailed in the Emirates of the Omani coast, starting with education through the Mutawwa, which is based in many cases on reading the Qur’an and memorizing it for students, and rarely went beyond completing the Qur’an and receiving some other sciences such as the principles of writing and following the texts of jurisprudence and arithmetic. The Mutawwa system depends on the capabilities of the Mutawwa, the breadth of his knowledge and his cultural level, passing through semi-formal education if it is not logical for traditional non-formal education (Mutawwa) to develop into modern education at once without passing through a transitional stage that can be considered an intermediate stage between the two traditional (Mutawwa) and modern systematic models.
