ملامح التمرد الديني في العراق القديم
Abstract
The changes that occurred in the worship of natural elements after their migration to the southern part of Iraq had the greatest impact on human life and their concept of divinity. They led to the undermining of the foundations of that worship. Moreover, political conflict, social injustice, and economic inequality weakened religious belief. The themes of deification themselves were a source of doubt and suspicion, given the duality of divine action within them, oscillating between good and evil, virtue and vice, justice and injustice, strength and weakness, which led to confusion, doubt, and rebellion. Such ideas emerged at the end of the second millennium BC, a time of challenge, pessimism, and cultural dissolution that befell Mesopotamia and other parts of the ancient world.
