Abstract
In January 2018, China officially issued its white paper for a new policy in the Arctic, represented by the “Polar Silk Road” project. The research seeks to shed light on the project, which is an integral part of the Chinese initiative known as the Belt and Road Initiative, “One Belt, One Road,” the project of the century that was launched in 2013. The research concluded that China’s undertaking of the project aims to strengthen the bonds of cooperation with the Polar countries away from the traditional ones, as they are subject to the control of the United States of America, like the Arab Gulf states in Asia, as China is the largest consumer market for energy resources (oil and gas) as an exporting country to Europe, which enjoys...
