Abstract
This research argues that the climate change the world is witnessing is a result of the increase in the size of cities resulting from the large increase in the number of urban populations. This has resulted in cities becoming the primary source of carbon dioxide emissions, as studies that have attempted to investigate the causes of the change indicate that they are responsible for 75-80% of total emissions worldwide, and the transportation, industry, and agriculture-related activities are the most responsible for generating carbon dioxide gas.
