Abstract
The research demonstrates the health and environmental importance of the sewage project towards the Great Samawah and the consequences of the efficiency of the drainage and treatment system in it to achieve the goals of sustainable development. The efficiency of the work of the treatment unit and the identification of problems that limit the sustainability of sanitation. The research adopted the analytical approach, the descriptive approach, primary data sources and library sources. In it and a number of obstacles that prevent the achievement of the objectives of the project appear in the obstruction of the heavy water drainage network, the operation of the treatment plant for poor maintenance on the one hand, the health culture of the population on the other hand, the drainage of rainwater towards the riverbed, the small size and poor equipment of the treatment plant, the research concluded a number of proposals The most important of which is to enhance the health and environmental aspect of citizens and raise the efficiency of the sewage system by intensifying maintenance operations, improving the work of the central treatment plant and increasing its absorptive capacity in accordance with the size of the population and according to standards and indicators that ensure the achievement of efficient and sustainable sanitation services
