Abstract
The purpose of this research was to investigate the amount of medical waste generated by various health institutions in Al-Muthanna Governorate including Al-Hussein Teaching Hospital and Hospital of Educational Children. In addition, identify the improper disposal methods used, such as incineration without proper medical waste storage facilities recommended by the World Health Organization. These improper methods have led to the contamination of waste dumps with hazardous medical waste, putting hospital workers at risk of contracting diseases. The study revealed that the weight of medical waste varied between hospitals and departments, both spatially and temporally. This topic was chosen due to the increasing concern about tourism pollution and its associated health risks, including the spread of tourism-related diseases and their effects.
