Abstract
The Western Front was the decisive theater of World War I and New Zealand soldiers made the greatest contribution to the British Empire on the Western Front, at great cost and in untold circumstances. The New Zealand Division proved its devotion to the empire through the battles in which it participated. Its participation in the Battle of the Somme in 1916 was very important. Despite their victory in the battle, they suffered a large number of casualties, and it was the beginning of what is known as trench warfare. As for their participation in the third Battle of Ibris in 1917, it had a great impact on the military and psychological level, so they participated in two attacks out of eight attacks and were able to achieve victory and raise their status and military reputation, especially after the formation of the New Zealand Division, and it was the first time in the history of New Zealand to form a complete division of military types And that the two attacks in which the division participated, the first was successful and crowned with victory, while the second was a failure and a tragic
