فقر الأطفال في محافظة السماوة لعام 2022 (دراسة تحليلية جغرافية)
Abstract
The issue of securing and protecting children's rights is of great importance, because they are the most vulnerable group belonging to low-income families. Child poverty is a chronic phenomenon in Iraq that limits the potential of most children in Muthanna Governorate, limits their educational attainment, and hinders the realization of their legitimate rights. Therefore, the research aims to focus on the segment of children in the age group (less than 18 years) who suffer from the specter of poverty and develop a number of treatments in an attempt to reduce it or mitigate its impact. Keywords: children's rights, child poverty, In 2007, the rate of child poverty in the urban area of Samawa District Center reached about (30) % and then increased to reach (32.3) % in 2012. The research revealed that the poverty of children in the study area continued to rise to (37.9) % in 2022 and that this group did not enjoy their rights to a decent and safe life as a result of the exceptional circumstances experienced by Iraqi society in all aspects of life, which reflected social problems, most notably child labor, deprivation of quality education and health care opportunities, and loss of security, which hinders their proper development.
