Abstract
Infrastructure services have become one of the important applied fields in the geographical research related to city studies, and it is the cornerstone in the development of all cities in urban terms, as it is one of the requirements of modern human life, recently, the city of Baghdad, including the study area (Al-Dora municipality) has suffered a significant deterioration in many aspects, including the infrastructure services system, and for several reasons, including the economic blockade, the wars that Iraq fought, terrorism and others, these reasons led to the deterioration of the potable water system, the electricity system, sewage services, and the deterioration of the streets leading to residential units, therefore, the study aims to reveal the level of deprivation that the housing units and their residents in the study area have been subjected to from this important service system, as well as finding solutions for the advancement and development of this service system, as it is related to the aspects of urban development of cities, this study worked to identify and measure the level of human deprivation in Al-Dora municipality, by using a number of methods, allowing the residents of the study area to evaluate the service system through a questionnaire prepared for this purpose, and then converting the answers into a digital language that is more accurate in analysis and access to results, this analysis was carried out based on a set of planning indicators prepared by the authorities concerned with developing the service aspect in the cities, and then these results were converted into a set of maps and charts, one of the most important findings of the study is that all service systems in the study area are below the planning indicators and are not distributed in a way that matches the population in the sizes neighborhoods, with the vast majority of the population of the study area feeling dissatisfied, as their percentage reached (88%) of the sample of the study (1539), in light of these results, we were able to develop a set of recommendations that help address and develop this system in the future, and make it balanced with the standards set by the authorities responsible for the services system in cities.
