Abstract

The research mainly dealt with the spatial distribution of government hospitals in the province of Najaf in order to reveal the reality of the spatial distribution of government hospitals for the year 2020, as well as estimating the current and future need for hospitals in the province in line with the current and future population. The research included a theoretical framework and three sections: The first topic dealt with: the spatial distribution of government hospitals in Najaf Governorate for the year 2020, while the second topic dealt with the distribution of medical, health and nursing cadres and auditors for government hospitals in Najaf Governorate, and the third topic dealt with estimating the future need for hospitals. The study relied on the descriptive and analytical approach supported by quantitative methods in studying the spatial distribution of government hospitals and the distribution of cadres working in them. The most important finding of the study is that the number of government hospitals in the governorate for the year 2020 is (10) hospitals, and they were distributed unevenly among the administrative units. Currently, the study relied on the data of the Najaf Health Department and government hospitals. The study revealed the extent of the current need for government hospitals and also gave a future vision of what they will be in proportion to the expected population increase in 2040 and identify the necessary needs in terms of number and area in the governorate, and this requires proper health planning.
