Abstract
The present study lies within the field of sociolinguistics or those studies that link the social aspect of life and its representation in the spoken language. We chose our a data that was written in an important age which is 'the Baghdadi proverbs' that were prevalent at the beginning of the twentieth century and collected in the book of "Al-Amthal Baghdadia" by Sheikh Jalal Al-Hanafi Al-Baghdadi. In this paper, we extracted the social phenomena in the proverbs that were embodied through the linguistic indications used by the speakers in special contexts derived from the context of the indications of those proverbs. We analyzed these phenomena through the context of their pragmatic use and their sociological impact on the formation of these connotations, and their expression of the intentions of the speakers.
