Abstract

Argumentation is one of the most important communicative acts that the speaker takes to achieve his/her intended purpose of persuading the recipients. This is achieved by a set of persuasive mechanisms that aim to influence and entice the recipient through the arguments and evidences presented by the speaker. In order to refute the dissenting opinion to build opinions and concepts consistent with the idea s/he adopts.This study seeks to reveal the argumentative mechanisms that Ibn Walad Al-Tamimi adopted in refuting the opinions of Al-Mubarrad, and the victory of Sibawayh in the phonetic and morphological issues that were mentioned in Sibawayh’s Intisar book on Al-Mubarrad.
