Abstract
The study aims to extract the spatial, morphological and topographical characteristics of Abu Tarjiah Valley by using geographic information systems. It is made by analyzing the digital elevation model (DEM) with a distinguishing accuracy of (30) meters. And the topographical maps in order to derive the river network. The study also aims to build a model to indicate the intensity of erosion in Abu Tarjiah Valley Basin according to the variables that most affect water erosion, especially the topography of the basin, the direction of water flow and the areas of water gathering within the basin. As well as the slope factor. The study concluded a collection of maps. It stated that there are three levels of erosion of water. Which are intensity erosion is concentrated within Abu Tarjiah Valley, such as first or second levels have made a weak effect of water erosion. This is due to the predominance of sediments of the quaternary time. Which contributes to the activity of lateral sculpting and the widening of the stream
