Abstract
Water quality is an important necessity for the integrity of ecosystems and food production when it is available in sufficient quantity and safe quality. It has importance in the field of economic development, energy production, and the safety of living organisms, foremost of which is the human being, research studied the quality of surface water characteristics in Al-Muthanna Governorate, specifically in the Euphrates and Shatt Al-Atshan River, and above all Lake Sawa, and evaluated its physical properties, including temp, turbidity, and total suspended particles Tss, as well as chemical electrical conductivity Ec, hydrogen ion PH, dissolved oxygen DO, total Dissolved salts TDS, calcium Ca, potassium K, sodium Na, and research results were evaluated over two seasons, during winter and summer season, the average was extracted for them. Most of the measured items exceed the permissible limits.
