Abstract
The research aims to study the reality of random housing in the city of Samawah and its impact on the urban development of the city. The research relied on the descriptive-analytical approach in gathering information and in processing data based on questionnaire and field observations to know the size of slums and their spatial variation, and the research reached several conclusions, including the formation of slums 22.8% of the total housing stock in the city, and this is an indicator that constitutes an obstacle to the processes of urban development.
