Abstract
The problem of solid waste as one of the most important environmental problems suffered by the city of Samawa due to high rates of population growth and the large increase in the amount of consumption of goods accompanied by an improvement in the standard of living. This research focuses on the field study of the Samawah City and analysis of the data on the amount of waste generated. The research also surveys the samples required to find the quantities and characteristics of the household solid waste. The results show that the amount of solid household waste in Samawah city is (232830.7 kg / person / day), that Hay al-Askari records the highest number with (20820.5 kg / person), The rate of production of household solid waste is (1.13 kg / person / day), also The results show that the most productive season for solid waste is summer, with the production rate reaching (1.30 kg / person / day), The The results reveal that the average rates of solid waste vary by residential sector of Samawah city, as it reaches (5.73%). The organic waste is the highest among the components, with (3.41 kg) of the rates of solid household waste in the study area.
