Abstract
The research aims to study the characteristics of the soil of the Shihabi region and classify them according to their productive capacity as a result of the diversity of the physical and chemical soil properties. Porosity and soil moisture. As for the chemical properties, they were also differentiated, represented by soil salinity, organic matter, soil interaction, and positive ions represented (Calcium carbonate, calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium) As for the negative ions were represented (chlorine, sulfate, bicarbonate), complete analyzes were done with a total of (4) samples for all of these elements of the study area samples and depending on two depths, representing the first depth (0-30) and the second depth (30-60). Soil productivity has been studied in the study area of 736.9 km2. By relying on the Belgian classification SYS, he found two classes of Soil, the first category, which represents the soil suitable for agricultural production, the second category, which is the soil that is suitable for agricultural production, and through this study, a set of conclusions and results have been reached that have a difference in the physical and chemical properties of the soil from one location to another in the study area and from one sample to another, On this basis, the soil of the study area had the ability to maintain water and good soil for growing some agricultural crops, such as vegetables and grains.
