الزحف العمراني وآثاره على تصحر الأراضي الزراعية في العراق قضاء أبي الخصيب دراسة نموذجية
Abstract
Urbanization of agricultural land is a serious problem in the study area, an important cause of desertification and a threat to national food security. The deterioration of the agricultural environment in the district of Abu al-Khasib beyond 2003 led to significant problems, especially after the division of agricultural land into residential and commercial plots of land ranged between 200 and 300 m2 only with low real estate values. This phenomenon leads to the transformation of rural areas into urban settlements with high population density. Unplanned urbanization has negative impacts on the agricultural environment, such as shrinking agricultural land, increasing residential slums, pollution, disruption of the ecosystem, and, ultimately, desertification, as well as various economic and social consequences. To address this problem, it is recommended to control urban expansion, control population growth and enforce laws prohibiting the sale and protection of agricultural land, as well as building new cities and encouraging related investment.
