Abstract
The rural area of Al-Khidr district has been studied in terms of geographical distribution and patterns of rural settlements. Several criteria were used to measure the spatial distribution of rural settlements, including the density of rural settlement amounting to (0,03) per km2 for the year 2016, which varies from one district to another. Moreover, the total residential density was estimated at (4,6) housing units per km2 for the study area of the same year. Direct observation and some quantitative methods were also used to determine the distribution patterns of rural settlements in a more precise and realistic manner. It appears hereby, that the majority of rural settlements in the study area take the collected pattern in its distribution, which is (67%) of all settlements of the studied area.
