Abstract
The reality of educational services in the countryside of Afak district was studied to clarify their functional efficiency by comparing the reality of services with the planning standards. It became clear through the study of educational indicators that they vary in terms of their proximity to the planning standards, as some indicators were close to the planning standards such as the indicator (number of students / teacher), (number of students / teacher), (number of students / class), (number of students / class). This is due to the low enrollment rate, while the indicator (number of students / number of buildings) was below the planning standard, as there is a double shift in (16 school buildings) due to the lack of a number of school buildings, based on the achieved enrollment rate (53%). However, if the enrollment rate increases to more than that and assuming it reaches (90%) or more, the study area needs a number of schools between (20-30 schools). The study also showed that the distance traveled to reach educational services is below the planning standards, as the results showed that only (47%) of the number of rural settlements are far from the primary school sites by distances that are within the planning standard, while for secondary education, about (9.6%) of the number of settlements in the study area (187).
