Abstract
The research aims to show the reality of the age and gender structure indicators of the population of Maysan Governorate in 2017 and its future in 2030 to enable those interested in development plans to take effective steps in line with the population structure in the governorate, such as building schools, hospitals, kindergartens, nursing homes, etc. The research concluded that the population of Maysan Governorate in 2017 and 2030 is a young society capable of reproduction and compensating for the decrease in the age group (15-64) years as a result of old age and death, and that the age dependency ratio of the study community in 2017 amounted to (70.1) and will decrease in 2030 to (66.8) and that it will increase in urban areas and decrease in rural areas, and that the The median age of the population of the study area in 2017 (20.7) years will increase to (22.5) years in 2030 will increase in urban areas and decrease in rural areas, and that the shape of the population pyramid takes the increasing pattern with a broad base and a steep slope in its sides, which The demographic growth rate in the study area in 2017 and 2030, and that there is no chance of reaching the demographic gift in 2030 due to the expansion of the base of the population pyramid for the governorate’s population and the increase in childbirth.
