Abstract
The research aims to describe the coherent referential structure in Hamed Al-Rawi's poetry, and to explain its function in creating and constructing the text/discourse, in addition to examining the efficiency of this methodological tool in analyzing the poetic text. The research attempts to achieve this by methodically answering a set of questions related to the types of referential means that appeared in Al-Rawi's poetry, and the nature of the referential structure in the language of contemporary poetry and the forms it takes, and how does the referral contribute to the consistency of the poetic text that is dominated by external referral that lacks a position that determines its reference? What is also related to the mechanism of building referential networks in Al-Rawi's poetry? What is its relationship to contemporary poetic styles? These questions and their branches will be answered when tracing the referential elements in selected texts from Al-Rawi's poetry.
