Abstract
The paradox is an old one that goes back to the story of the creation of Adam and Eve and their descent from heaven because of the sin of disobedience. It entered literary studies in the eighteenth century, and the Arabs became acquainted with it through translation in the books of D. C. Mueck (The Paradox) and (The Paradox and Its Characteristics). It formed a solid foundation in the poetry of Abu Nuwas as a stylistic mechanism based on the contradiction between a familiar prevailing structure and the culture of Abu Nuwas, who departs from the norm in life within a comprehensive view of all aspects of society.
