تحليل جيوسياسي للعلاقات العراقية الكويتية
Abstract
The study of geographical proximity is of great importance within the geopolitical topics as it sheds light closely on the geographical impact in controlling the rhythm of the balance between the interests of neighboring countries. The location of proximity between Iraq and Kuwait was supposed to be a source of stability and integration due to the many ties between the two countries such as religion, language, nationality, common history, and others. However, there are variables that contributed directly and indirectly to the relationship between them reaching the point of rupture due to the Iraqi occupation of Kuwait in 1990, which caused a major rift between the two countries in particular and the Arab regional system in general. The fall of the political system in Iraq in 2003 at the hands of the American occupation and the establishment of a new political system constituted a new beginning for the resumption of relations between the two countries, characterized by a character of joint cooperation and a sense of the dangers surrounding the region, to put the two countries on the threshold of a stage based on enhancing benefits and averting risks that may harm their interests.
